That’s all salt. It’s finally raining. Hopefully it rains all this away.

That is a lot of salt, like a stupid amount. Lets hope you have plenty of rain to get rid of it!

I could only hope to be so lucky... Though I know salt is snow independent. Right now we have the snow melting turning all the salt crusted roads into a glorious salt water filled set of pot holes! Woohoo!

I don’t know what you are complaining about; you can still see the pavement.

Here the roads are whited out with salt from November through April. Except of course on the days it actually snows— then they are whited out by the snow.

Our first autocross last May had slow runs in the morning because our tires were sweeping away the salt from the lot.

You’re so lucky. I wish I could live in such a place.

This is why we can’t have nice things.

Can have them, can’t keep them nice.

I’m not really complaining. Just sharing my point of view. I do consider myself lucky like others have mentioned. Also a conversation starter.... ice breaker so to say.

Last weekend kind of caught the road crews by surprise and lots of people hade super long commutes because rain then froze. So then it’s like welp, over salt, how do you like me now?? I do not envy the municipal street crews.

I was just poking a little fun. I agree that it is crazy just how much salt gets dumped on the roads, though it certainly does help get the icy freezy stuff cleared up.

What bugs me is the insane amount of sand we get here too. Some towns barely plow, and just dump sand on top of the snow, which then turns into a froth of slushy brown slime.

I do understand the need to clear up the ice, but I’d rather people get snow tires and learn to drive on snow rather than coating the streets with so much sand that I forget they are paved and think I’m back on rural gravel roads.

Yep.

Got into it a bit with someone down south who said something to the affect of, “Well if you cleaned you car occasionally...”

They have no idea.

May I ask where that is? Looks lovely in comparison to the daily UK weather outlook of grey skies with a 90% chance of precipitation.

Yep, out west in Ofallon.
